...and started walking around the lake. The most interesting thing about the scenery was all the strange rock formations. For example, to the East:

And some strange rocks along the trail that looked almost like cheap cement:

The tallest rock was really cool:

As we walked around the shore of the lake, we found that there was actually another group of hikers (3) nearby. They must've been thru-hikers. They were sitting on the beach in their swimsuits, apparently oblivious to the swarms of mosquiotes that were pestering us. They looked at us funny when we walked by in our nets. I'm not sure if they were laughing at us or if they were jealous. Eventually, we got far enough around the lake to get a good view of the lake and the East side, which was where the coolest rocks were. It was a fantastic view:

(Our campsite would be on the right edge of the picture, by the way.)
After attempting to bathe somewhat in the cold water, we sat around camp for a while checking out the scenery, and it was then that Justin began to whittle. What he was whittling, he wasn't sure, but a small piece of driftwood suddenly had a new purpose in life...to become something and dull Justin's knife. After a while, we couldn't take the mosquitoes anymore and retreated to the tent while it was still early, without dinner. We feasted on a dinner of (yum, yum!) Powerbars.

Wishing we had cards, we instead went to sleep early, since there wasn't much else to do. Unlike the previous night, I slept like a log. Maybe it was knowing that tomorrow we would climb out of this mosquito-ridden valley...
