Mt. Tamalpais State Park - Beach to Summit

October 27, 2001 - Page 6

An odd-looking tree along the Matt Davis trail. It looks like the horizontal piece of trunk is the remnants of another tree which had fallen and somehow gotten melded into the still-standing tree. I should point out that at this point it was getting pretty dark, and walking in the dark in the trees was getting me fairly spooked about mountain lions...

Strolling through the rolling, grassy hills along Matt Davis trail. The trail would shortly begin an endless series of switchbacks down to Stinson Beach...

My trusty Toyota truck in the parking area of the beach at Stinson Beach. Total distance: about 15.6 miles. Total time: about 6 hours. My plans of barbequeing were skipped due to the crappy, cold weather, and my desire to go for a pizza. It was a fun trip, but next time I need to do it on a clear day, and find a better set of trails from Pantoll to the East Peak, because fire roads get way too boring. Oh, and I need to be in shape next time so I don't ache for days...
