Well, after two years, we had completed not quite half of the total distance from Ebbett's Pass to I-80 at Donner Pass that we'd planned to do the first year. Next year, we'll finish up from Echo to I-80 (section K), or I'm going to go insane!
I had a lot of fun, again, and am ready to go next year. I just need to lose some more weight, lighten my pack more, and strengthen my knees. And I think I'm finally going to give up on hiking boots in favor of running shoes. It seemed to be what all the thru-hikers were using. In preliminary tests, they seem to work much better blister-wise.
Yes, 2002 will be a year of conquest...the year I actually conquer the trail instead of vice-versa. I'm already geeking out on pack weights, food weights and calories, etc. so that I'm as prepared as I can possibly be. Hopefully third time will be the charm!
That about does it for the 2001 story. If you haven't read about our 2000 PCT Hike yet, make sure to check it out. You might also want to check out my Online Photo Album, which contains pictures/stories about a number of other hikes I've done over the past couple of years. You can also return to my Main PCT Page.
